New Location, New Format!
Children’s Empower 2010
Grab your space helmet and get ready to board the 2010 space shuttle headed for Empower. “SpaceQuest: On Mission with God” is the theme for the preschool and children’s area this year. Babies through 4s will be in self-contained classrooms, but 5s-6th graders will be moving around as they explore different missions. All classrooms will be in Lakeview (the old dining hall).
With more of a theme than previous years, excitement is building. Besides Bible study, music, crafts, recreation, and videos, children will choose a “Special Assignment” of Scrapbooking, Construction, Card-making, Photography, Art, Beads, Sewing (4th grade or older), or Books, Puzzles, and Games. Those who choose Sewing will help create doll quilts to be used on the Disaster Relief Temporary Child Care Unit. Scrapbookers will create scrapbooks with pictures from previous years of Empower.
During “Mission Exploration” the children will learn about the MWBC Disaster Relief ministry, with simulated situations. They will have a chance to create encouragement items to be distributed when our units are deployed.
Besides all that, we even have a speaker who has spent two weeks at NASA. She will share what she learned, and show pictures.
Register your children early to help us make plans, and be ready for some fun! Here we go…BLAST OFF!
